
Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to attain in his maiden outing in England, managing to attain simply 24 runs from 55 deliveries in opposition to England Lions
Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to last for just 55 deliveries before he was sent packing in the 1st unofficial Test between India A and England Lions on Friday. The focus was on the southpaw to outperform following the retirement of Rohit Sharma. The series is the preparatory ground for Jaiswal ahead of the five-match tour against England that commences on June 20.
Jaiswal flops in maiden England outing
Jaiswal managed to score 24 runs off 55 deliveries before he was dismissed by Eddie Jack. Although he played a patient knock, the southpaw edged a delivery to England skipper James Rew off his 55th delivery, leading to the end of his innings.
Jaiswal, who has been India’s first-choice opener since 2024, did have a good run at home. In the series against Australia, he emerged as one of India’s best batters with 391 runs to his name from five matches.
However, Jaiswal now is racing against time to prove his worth before the 5-match Test series against England. His fellow opener, Abhimanyu Easwaran, was forced to depart for just 8 runs off 17 deliveries.
So far, in his Test career, Jaiswal has 1798 runs from 17 matches, and averages 52.88. In his previous Test series in Australia, he amassed 391 runs in 5 matches, averaging 43.44 and a best score of 161 runs.
