Who delivered and who upset in CSK vs MI IPL 2025 match?

Whereas on one hand, some gamers did rather well, whereas some failed to satisfy the expectations. Check out the large hits and flops from the CSK vs MI IPL 2025 match.

Mumbai Indians came to Chepauk and lost the game against Chennai Super Kings. Winning and losing are certainly part of the game, but what’s interesting is that the five-time champions have now lost their first game for the 13th consecutive year, which is shocking. On one hand, they have 5 trophies, but on the other hand, they don’t have much to show when it comes to IPL opening games.

Speaking about the game, at one point, there was a bit of a hiccup. CSK found chasing 156 to be tricky, but thanks to the CSK batters, they chased down the target successfully. So, which players performed really well and who disappointed? Take a look at the big hits and flops in the CSK vs MI IPL 2025 match.

Hits👍

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The captain led from the front, first showcasing his shrewd captaincy while CSK was bowling. His bowling changes were one of the reasons why Mumbai Indians struggled, as he introduced spin at the right time to make full use of the Chepauk surface.

When Gaikwad came to bat, he smashed a scintillating fifty, and it’s fair to say his innings made a difference. Yes, Rachin Ravindra was there, but Gaikwad’s fast start helped the team stay in the driving seat for a long time.

Rachin Ravindra

One name that stood out and fulfilled the expectations of the CSK management was Rachin Ravindra. Last season, he provided the team with good starts but struggled to capitalise on them. However, this time, he appeared more mature, and it was evident in how he dominated the MI bowlers from start to finish, eventually guiding the team to victory.

Many believed he played slowly, but his crucial innings of 65 runs played a key role in helping CSK cross the finish line.

Noor Ahmad

Another CSK player who made it to the list was none other than Noor Ahmad, the Man of the Match for his impressive bowling performance. The young spinner made full use of the Chepauk pitch and outfoxed several MI batters.

He scalped a total of four wickets, dismissing key hitters like Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Robin Minz, Naman Dhir, and Shams Mulani. What stood out was not just his ability to take wickets but also his exceptional economy rate of 4.50, proving how effective he was in restricting the flow of runs.

Flops👎

Rohit Sharma

Gone for a duck! Rohit Sharma, fresh from national duty where he led India to a prestigious championship victory, had a stellar performance in the final against New Zealand. However, his IPL 2025 opener didn’t go as planned.

The veteran batter was completely deceived by Khaled Ahmed’s delivery. Attempting to flick the ball, he ended up giving an easy catch to Shivam Dube. In short, Rohit failed to make an impact in the match.

Interestingly, this marked his 18th duck in IPL history, equalling Glenn Maxwell’s record. Clearly, this is not a milestone he would have wanted, and he will be eager to turn things around in the next match.

Suryakumar Yadav

The same goes for MI’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav, who captained the team in Hardik Pandya’s absence. He is surely not in great form, as he has struggled in domestic cricket and even for India in his recent T20I outings.

His IPL 2025 opener didn’t inspire much hope either. He managed 29 runs off 26 balls, hitting one six and two fours. However, fans were expecting much more from him.
