In what might have been the fifth day of the IND vs AUS Adelaide Test, it turned out to be an optional practice session in Adelaide for Team India. After a 10-wickets loss, Rohit Sharma and Co. decided to stay back after the defeat, and held an extended session at the same venue, where the players present. Meanwhile, the Aussie side had already reached Brisbane for the third Test, starting December 14.
The highlight of the training session, though was, Virat Kohli bowling for up to 10-15 minutes in the nets to Shubman Gill, as part of warm-up. Virat, after scoring a brilliant 100 in Perth, looked off colour in the Adelaide match, and struggled against pace bowling. Come Brisbane, he would have to be wary of the deliveries on the 4th stump, that have been his nemesis for the longest time.
There has also been a lot of chatter around Rohit Sharma and his form. On Twitter, he has widely been called the “worst skipper ever”, and of course his batting form is as much a concern. There are experts who believe that the skipper should go to his regular batting position, but given his form — average of 11 — in the last 4-5 Tests, it would only be fair, that he bats in the middle-order.
As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, the out-of-touch southpaw spent a sizeable amount of time in the nets against the three spinners — R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar — with most likely the latter returning to the playing XI after being ignored for the second Test.
