Vinod Kambli’s spouse, Andrea, stayed along with her husband in his low time even after the couple had points of their marriage.
In contrast to the infamous headlines often surrounding divorces and accusations of gold-digging, Vinod Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt, has brought a positive perspective to the narrative. She revealed that she had initially considered divorcing the former Indian cricketer but chose to stand by him after witnessing Kambli’s helpless and deteriorating condition due to his battle with alcohol addiction. Her decision reflects compassion and commitment, choosing to support her husband during his difficult times rather than walking away.
Vinod Kambli’s wife Andrea had filed divorce
Andrea said on a podcast that Kambli would have been helpless if she would have left him.
“He will be helpless if I leave him. He is like a child, and that hurts me. It makes me feel worried. I would not even leave a friend, but he is more than that. I remember there were moments when I would just walk away. But then I would be worried: Has he eaten or not? Is he on the bed properly? Is he okay? Then I had to check on him, and I would understand that he needed me,” she said.
Following a failed marriage to Noella Lewis, Kambli made Andrea his second wife. When the seasoned left-handed batter saw Andrea on a billboard for a “Tanishq” advertisement, he fell in love with her. In 2006, they were married in a civil court private ceremony.
When Andrea decided to divorce Vinod Kambli?
The couple started having issues after 17 years of marriage in February 2023 after Andrea reported Kambli to the police for domestic abuse. The former cricket player reportedly injured her head when he threw the handle of a cooking pan at her while intoxicated.
