Umesh Yadav dismisses Manoj Tiwary’s claims, urging communication to resolve misunderstandings and asserting Gautam Gambhir did not declare undue credit score for KKR’s IPL victories.
A few days back, former India and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Manoj Tiwary said that India’s current head coach, Gautam Gambhir, took all the credit for the double triumph of the Indian Premier League during 2012 and 2014 and called him a hypocrite. During that period, Gautam Gambhir was the captain of KKR. In an interview with News 18 Bangla, he claimed that Sunil Narine, Jacques Kallis, and everyone contributed, but it was Gautam Gambhir who ended up taking all the credit. “He didn’t achieve victory alone, but we keep portraying Gautam Gambhir as the hero,” he said.
On that part, Umesh Yadav denied all the claims. Speaking exclusively to InsideSport, Umesh Yadav shared his opinion on this claim.
Umesh Yadav on Gautam Gambhir
Umesh Yadav denied all the claims that Gautam Gambhir took all the credit for the IPL victory in 2012 and 2014. “I have not seen any interview in which Gautam Gambhir took the credit for the glory in IPL. I think you should only believe what you see and hear. Just because others say something, you shouldn’t believe it.” He said.
Umesh suggested that Tiwary should have talked to Gambhir. “I know one should think for themselves. If you hear that someone has said something wrong about you, you can directly talk to the person, right? You play cricket together; if there is any misunderstanding, you can clear it. There is nothing wrong in it. So I don’t believe in those things. We have phones and everything, so we should communicate,” He added.
Umesh Won IPL in 2014 with KKR
Umesh Yadav was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders from 2014 to 2017. In 2022, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders, and he was their frontline bowler until 2017. He took 48 wickets for KKR, which is still the fourth-highest in the franchise’s history. Umesh played under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy during 2014.
Gautam Gambhir played for Delhi Daredevils and later joined KKR in 2011. As captain, he won the trophy twice, in 2012 and 2014. He was part of the franchise until 2017 and was the top scorer for KKR in four seasons, including the title win in 2012.
