There’s huge and probably pleased information for cricket followers in Tripura, as the brand new Narsinghgarh Stadium, which is nearing completion, is more likely to host IPL 2026 matches.
It’s good news for cricket fans in Tripura, as the currently under-construction international cricket stadium in Narsinghgarh, Agartala, is likely to host its first IPL match in 2026, once the construction work is completed.
Tapan Lodha, President of the Tripura Cricket Association, stated that the international cricket stadium located in Narsinghgarh, Agartala, will be completed by 2026. With a seating capacity of 25,000, it will be the second-largest stadium in Northeast India after the Barsapara Cricket Stadium (40,000 capacity) in Guwahati.
The stadium is owned and managed by the Tripura Cricket Association and will serve as the home ground for the Tripura cricket team, as well as a venue for India’s cricket matches. It is anticipated to host international fixtures, enhancing the region’s profile in both national and international cricket.
“We are hopeful that a real IPL match will take place by next year. At first, the construction work was very slow, but gradually it gained momentum. We are hopeful that soon after the completion of the construction work, and after fulfilling rules, regulations, and requirements, the match will take place,” Lodha said.
