You expect goalkeepers to save goals—not score them. But on November 2, 2013, Stoke City’s Asmir Begović stunned the Premier League with the longest goal ever recorded.
Just 13 seconds into the match vs. Southampton, Begović launched a wind-assisted clearance that bounced over everyone—landing in the net from 91.9 meters away. The goal was so extraordinary it entered the Guinness World Records. Not bad for a keeper.
“I’ve kept the match ball,” he said. “A goalkeeper scoring is the same as anyone else scoring a hat-trick I guess. I’ll get everyone to sign it before I bring it up in training that I’m joint top scorer in the league! I’ve been advised not to disclose to the press what my goal target is for the season… but I’m hoping to be in the running for goal of the season.”
