The fan who caught the milestone ball is working with Goldin, a New Jersey-based public sale home specializing in buying and selling playing cards, collectibles and memorabilia.
The opening bid for the ball is $500,000. There may be black scuffing and abrasions on the white leather-based ball, which was authenticated by Main League Baseball.

Potential consumers will even have an opportunity to purchase the ball outright for $4.5 million between Friday and Oct. 9. If bidding reaches $3 million earlier than Oct. 9, the choice to buy the ball privately will not be out there and consumers should bid for it. Prolonged bidding will start on Oct. 16.
