Sanjiv Goenka names 3 gamers LSG would borrow from IPL groups & it isn’t Rohit Sharma, Kohli or Dhoni

LSG had chosen to launch KL Rahul earlier than the public sale and has gotten gamers like Rishabh Pant, David Miller, and Avesh Khan in Jeddah.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) does have a trade system by which franchises can exchange players, but borrowing or sending a player to another team on a loan doesn’t happen. But what if it were? That’s exactly what Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka was asked on the Raj Shamani Podcast.

The founder and chairman of the RSPG Group, who recently bought a 49% stake in the Manchester Originals without skipping a beat, said, “Jasprit Bumrah.” Of course, that can’t happen, and he knows that. “There is no chance (Mumbai Indians will let him go),” the owner of LSG added.

Asked to name two more players, who he’d borrow from other IPL franchises, Goenka though for a while. The said, “Yuzi (Yuzvendra Chahal) and either Jaiswal or Parag.”

Fascinatingly, he didn’t name either of the three biggest stars in the IPL: MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, or Rohit Sharma. Opting to go with Bumrah seems like a no-brainer. He’s the best T20 bowler in the world and showed that in the 2024 T20 World Cup. But the other picks aren’t as secure.

Goenka chose to go with Yuzvendra Chahal, someone who doesn’t even play for Team India at the moment. Yes, he’s the highest wicket-taker in IPL history, but right now Kuldeep Yadav might be a better Indian pick. He went with Yashasvi Jaiswal or Riyan Parag when it came to picking the third player. Jaiswal will be good for LSG, as they need an opener, but Parag over one of Kohli, Rohit, or Dhoni doesn’t make sense. If Goenka wanted a spin bowling all-rounder, he could have gone with Axar Patel or Ravindra Jadeja.
