Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 119 runs off 90 balls in the second ODI against England, held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. During his 50th ODI as India captain, Rohit smashed 12 fours and 7 sixes, helping the world No. 1 team chase down the target of 305 runs in 44.3 overs with the loss of six wickets. The 37-year-old right-handed batter, who is one of three Indian captains to have won an ICC trophy, aims to put up another stellar performance in the third ODI.
The final match of the bilateral series between India and England is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If Rohit scores at least 13 runs in this match, he will become the second-fastest batter in the world to reach 11,000 runs in ODIs.

The record for the fastest 11,000 runs in ODIs is held by Virat Kohli, who achieved it in his 222nd innings in his 230th ODI match. Rohit, on the other hand, has batted 259 times in 267 ODIs so far. If Rohit scores a century in the third ODI against England, he will become the third Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar and Kohli to score 50 centuries in international cricket. Tendulkar ended his career with 100 centuries in 664 matches across formats, while Kohli has 81 centuries in 544 matches to date.

If the veteran of 267 ODIs hits at least 14 more sixes in Ahmedabad, he will become the leading six-hitter in the 50-over format. The current record for most sixes in ODIs is held by former Pakistan captain and legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who hit 351 sixes in 398 matches during his 19-year ODI career.
