This was LSG’s first match at their house floor, having received and misplaced one away sport every beforehand.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have lost their second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. After losing the toss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, LSG was put in to bat first and posted just 171. The target proved to be a walk in the park as Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer, who helped PBKS chase it down in just 16.2 overs.
LSG Player Rating vs PBKS
Rishabh Pant, 0/10: The wicketkeeper hasn’t been in good touch, and that continued in the PBKS match. Is it just that Pant’s in bad form, or is he feeling the price tag pressure?
Nicholas Pooran, 8/10: Took control after LSG lost three wickets in the powerplay. Was ready for another big knock, but Yuzvendra Chahal got his wicket to disrupt things. 44 (30) is still pretty good.
Ravi Bishnoi, 1/10: The worst bowler of the day. He was outshined by Digvesh and was tonked all over the ground by Prabhsimran Singh and Nehal Wadhera.
Aiden Markram, 6.5/10: After two back-to-back failures, Markram played a handy cameo up top. LSG would have liked for him to continue. But 28 (18) is good, especially when you want to utilise the powerplay.
Mitchell Marsh, 1/10: A golden duck for the Australian opener. Not the best of shots, but Arshdeep Singh delivered a good ball as well.
Ayush Badoni, 9/10: The scorecard won’t show it, but Badoni was the one who even got LSG to 171. Had he fallen after Pooran, the score might not even have been 150. 41 (33) was great in this context.
David Miller, 4/10: Wasn’t the best knock from one of the best finishers. 19 (18) isn’t good by any metric. Especially considering he played with Badoni.
Abdul Samad, 10/10: What Miller couldn’t do, Samad did. He scored 27 (12) and gave the final flourish that LSG required.
Shardul Thakur, 2/10: Not the best day for the all-rounder. Scored 3 (3) and was hit for 39 runs in 3 overs.
Avesh Khan, 2/10: Was smashed for 30 runs in 3 overs. Being the leader of the pace pack, LSG would have wanted more from Avesh.
Digvesh Singh Rathi, 9/10: The leg spinner was the best bowler of the day. He troubled Nehal Wadhera the most and also got the wickets of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, the only two wickets that PBKS lost.
Manimaran Siddharth, 3/10: Was smashed for 28 runs in 3 overs. His job is to be economical, which he couldn’t do today.
