Jan Johnson, 1950-2025 was NCAA Champion, Olympic bronze medalist, inventor, coach, author, ex-husband, father, good friend, grandfather. Jan was many issues.
Jan, like all people, had his demons.
The confluence of skate tradition, pole vault tradition, and surf tradition have been all in Atascadero.
Jan Johnson’s legacy? Over most of his life, Jan has drawn many to the pole vault, and his legacy would be the continued development of the occasion in each males’s and ladies’s pole vault.
Jan was the primary advertiser in my pub, American Athletics, with HIND and Skyjumpers. He was additionally first in American Monitor & Subject. Jan and John Powell went out of their manner to assist us make our publications profitable.
