Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s (RCB) squad is set. They have more or less all of their bases covered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Fascinatingly, they have got many of the players they wanted but also missed out on a few. RCB shared a sneak peek of their auction strategy and who they wanted to buy.
RCB’s wish list for IPL 2025 auction
They are already at Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. That meant they needed to find eight quality players (including the impact player) to field the best XI in IPL 2025. For these places, RCB were targetting the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Noor Ahmad and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Hit and Misses
RCB managed to bag Livingstone, Hazlewood, and Bhuvneshwar, but this means they don’t have as strong a team as they would have liked. They wanted Venkatesh at number three but had to settle for Devdutt Padikkal, which seems like a major downgrade. RCB aim to get an good number 7, and although they couldn’t get a big name, they have a good hitter in Manoj Bhandage.
They wanted two leg-spinners, one an overseas player and another an Indian. They couldn’t get one of Allah Ghazanfar, Maheesh Theekshana, or Noor Ahmad and had to settle for Swapnil Singh or Krunal Pandya. RCB also wanted to bring Yuzvendra Chahal back, but all they got was Suyash Sharma.
