Denny McCarthy’s intriguing putter change paid off in Spherical 1 of the Sony Open.

Denny McCarthy is without doubt one of the greatest putters on the PGA Tour. Final season, McCarthy ranked fourth in Strokes Gained: Placing, fourth in putts per spherical, and seventh in one-putt share.

The change labored out for McCarthy within the first spherical at Waialae Nation Membership. The 31-year-old revamped 145 ft of putts to card a bogey-free, six-under 64. “I’ve simply sort of been struggling wanting down at my putter,” McCarthy instructed reporters after his spherical. “It simply hasn’t felt proper recently. I don’t know what’s been happening, however it simply hasn’t appeared nice to my eye the final couple months. I’ve been preventing it.
