PNP: 1.057 gun ban violators, so far

MANILA, Philippines — A complete of 1,057 people have been arrested by the Philippine Nationwide Police (PNP) for violating the gun ban for the 2025 midterm elections.

In a press briefing on Thursday, PNP Public Info Workplace (PIO) chief Col. Randulf Tuaño stated 33 violators have been arrested on Wednesday.

Tuaño added that almost all arrests on Wednesday have been in Metro Manila with 14, adopted by Central Luzon with six and  Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) with 5.

Total, in accordance with PNP knowledge launched additionally on Thursday, the abstract of violators is as follows:

  • 1,006 civilians
  • 22 safety guards
  • Seven Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel
  • Six PNP personnel (4 lively personnel, one suspended personnel, one personnel in absence with out official depart)
  • 5 personnel of different legislation enforcement companies
  • 4 overseas nationals
  • Two elected authorities officers
  • Two appointed authorities officers
  • Two youngsters in battle with the legislation
  • One Citizen Armed Power Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Lively Auxiliary personnel

The firearms have been seized from 476 police response operations, 142 anti-illegal drug operations, 98 checkpoint operations, 61 gun buy-bust operations, and 283 different legislation enforcement operations.

The PNP reported conducting 274,584 Fee on Elections (Comelec) checkpoints to date.
