Mumbai’s first win hero Ashwani Kumar, Hardik Pandya tactically good

IPL 2025, MI vs KKR: Mumbai Indians needed to wait for 3 matches to get their maiden win, however this might instill some self perception within the workforce.

Finally, after three games MI managed to register their first win of IPL 2025, and it was a stupendous one against 2024 champions KKR, at home. After bundling out Kolkata Knight Riders for only 116, Mumbai Indians gave a massive boost to their NRR, as they completed the eight-wicket win in only 12.5 overs. And let’s admit it, there were a lot of positives throughout.

There was a certain Ashwani Kumar, who made an exceptional debut bagging 4/24, and then Ryan Rickelton also managed to come good. All-in-all it was a performance, that would send a warning to all the other teams as well. So, InsideSport takes a look at how MI individuals performed, and also rate them.

MI Player Ratings

Rohit Sharma (2/10): Rohit Sharma’s failures continue to haunt MI. Even though they were chasing a paltry 117, yet the former skipper could not find a way to get a good score. TBH, it is not looking good for him.

Ryan Rickelton (8/10): He has come good eventually, and Mumbai will breathe a sigh of relief. The South African scored 62 from 41, and showed he can be explosive at the top. Much harder challenges await him now.

Will Jacks (3/10): Just like Rohit, he couldn’t find a way to stay longer at the crease. He scored 16 from 17. Poor from him as well.

Suryakumar Yadav (5/10): After a poor run in T20Is, Surya has shown decent form in the last two matches. Against KKR he scored unbeaten 27 from 9, and the other day, he had scored 48 from 28. So, good news for MI.

Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir (0/10): Tilak and Naman were those two unfortunate players, who neither got a chance to bat, nor bowl. 0 is just a way of signalling, they didn’t have anything to do in both innings.

Hardik Pandya (7/10): It was one of those days where every move by Hardik Pandya brought rich rewards for the skipper. He also bowled two overs and returned with figures of 1/10.

Mitchell Santner (6/10): The Kiwi all-rounder was once again good. He gave away 17 runs in his 3.2 overs and picked up a wicket too. So well done.

Deepak Chahar (8/10): Now on to the pacers. Deepak Chahar was criticised in the last match for ineffective bowling. But he turned around things with wickets of Quinton de Kock and Venkatesh Iyer.

Ashwani Kumar (9.5/10): He could be a future star in the making. Not only he showed a cool head on his shoulders, but also showed he can bowl with speed. With his smooth action, he managed to get 4/24 on his debut.

Trent Boult (7.5/10): Ashwani was well supported by Boult. The Kiwi pacer returned with figures of 1/23 in his four overs.

Vignesh Puthur (7/10): After missing out on the last game, he made a good comeback. He bagged 1/21, but then was a bit expensive. Apart from that, he did trouble the opposition batsmen.
