As reported earlier, LSG pace sensation Mayank Yadav has already joined the team for IPL 2025, after getting a clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence, and now the youngster is set undergo a few fitness tests. The Rishabh Pant-led side will play their next fixture on Saturday, and these tests will decide the fate of Mayank, as per a report in the Times of India.
It is important to note that Mayank Yadav had played only four matches last season for LSG, where he ended up picking seven wickets, and was most impressive with his speeds, touching up to 157 kmph. Then in October last year, he was selected for a T20I series, and after playing a few matches, he has been injured since then.
Now, he will be assessed by LSG physio Ashish Kaushik. Mayank, in the last two years, has suffered five stress fractures in his back, and LSG would like to be very cautious with the pacer. Meanwhile, that wasn’t the only injury concern for LSG, that saw Mohsin Khan being ruled out of the competition, and Avesh Khan and Akash Deep also missing a few games.
Shardul Thakur was brought in as an injury replacement, and has been doing a decent job since then. The team is in fifth spot for now, with four wins in seven games.
