PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Mark Carnevale, a former PGA Tour winner who had been calling tournaments for Sirius XM Radio, died Monday, per week after working his final event, the PGA Tour mentioned. He was 64.
The Tour didn’t disclose a trigger, solely saying that he died abruptly.
Carnevale gained the 1992 Chattanooga Traditional and was voted PGA Tour rookie of the 12 months. He later gained on what’s now the Korn Ferry Tour.
He was greatest recognized not too long ago for being one of many lead announcers for Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio since 2005, and he most not too long ago referred to as the motion from the penultimate group on the Scottish Open. He was scheduled to work the 3M Open this week in Minnesota.
“He was a member of that elite membership, a PGA Tour winner, after which he held quite a few roles inside the trade, most not too long ago as a major voice in PGA Tour Radio’s protection,” Commissioner Jay Monahan mentioned. “Mark knew the sport and did a terrific job of conveying insights from his distinctive viewpoint — and with an interesting wit and humorousness.”
The son of a faculty basketball coach, Carnevale was born in Annapolis, Maryland, whereas Ben Carnevale was teaching at Navy. The household later moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, and Carnevale performed faculty golf at James Madison.
