Lawrence Cherono: Kenyan marathon runner given seven-year ban for doping

Kenyan marathon runner Lawrence Cherono has been given a seven-year ban for breaching anti-doping guidelines.

The 35-year-old was given 4 years for testing constructive for a banned substance, plus 4 extra for tampering or trying to mislead the investigation, though that was diminished by one 12 months for early admission and acceptance of the sanction.

Cherono was provisionally suspended in July 2022 after testing constructive for coronary heart treatment trimetazidine (TMZ).
