Kevin Pietersen “Obtainable” to take publish of specialist batting coach for India Cricket Crew

India at present has 4 coaches underneath head coach Gautam Gambhir

The BCCI is apparently on the search for a specialist batting coach for the India Cricket Team. Former England Cricket Team captain Kevin Pietersen has expressed his desire to take up the role. The BCCI is unhappy with the performances of the Indian side after it lost the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The pressure is also on head Gautam Gambhir to make matters right.

The Indian side currently has a specialist bowling and fielding coach. But there are no specialist batting coaches. Instead, Gambhir has Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate as the two assistant coaches. Now in a bid to recover from India’s poor batting form, the board is ready to look for a specialist batting coach. And Kevin Pietersen tweeted that he is available to take up the role.

Does India need a specialist batting coach?

India currently already has 4 support staff members. Adding another member can have a negative impact as well. While the contrary belief is that 3 specialists would do the job. Actually, that was the case in the previous management under head coach Rahul Dravid.

But Gautam Gambhir has his own chosen staff members. He single-handedly chose his support staff and the BCCI decided to lend their support. But things took a rather wrong turn. India lost at home in a 3-0 whitewash Test series loss to Kiwis. This was followed by the 3-1 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. These two series losses ensured India failed to make it to the WTC Finals.
