After an eight-year hiatus, the Champions Trophy is trying to reclaim the reputation it once had when this fierce, short tournament became the talk of the town due to its knockout cup feel. Although it is not an eliminator-style tournament, losing just one match can push a team towards elimination, pushing teams to field their strongest squads to perform better.

But what if someone from that strong squad gets injured just before the tournament? It isn’t a new scenario, and it has happened once again. Just before the Champions Trophy 2025, many players who were set to represent their respective countries have been ruled out due to injury, while some are on the verge of missing out. However, with all teams having submitted their final squads, the latter option seems less likely now.

The tournament is set to start on 19 February and will continue until 9 March. As mentioned, several key names are going to miss out, primarily due to injury. The one name currently under everyone’s radar is Rachin Ravindra. Before getting into the players who have already been ruled out, let’s first look at Ravindra’s case. According to reports, he is back on track after being hit in the face by a ball during a recently held tri-series, which was a scary moment for his fans worldwide. He is still in the Champions Trophy squad, but chances are he will miss the opening match against Pakistan.

Moving further down, apart from Ravindra, all the other names are totally out of the competition due to injury, and they make the cut in this injured XI. Along with Ravindra, we have youngster Jacob Bethell taking a stride as an opener, followed by Mitchell Marsh, who is out due to a back injury.

After that, the list goes into a bowler’s arena. Apart from the first three names, the others are certified dangerous bowlers who can dismantle any team’s batting order. From pacers like Pat Cummins to Jasprit Bumrah, and even the only specialist spinner on the list, Allah Ghazanfar of Afghanistan, who was ruled out due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, could have made an impact if he was fit.
