ICC Champions Trophy work forces PCB to shift 2nd PAK vs BAN Take a look at from Karachi to Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will now host two back-to-back Take a look at matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made the decision to shift the second Test match of the upcoming Pakistan-Bangladesh series from Karachi to Rawalpindi. The match, originally scheduled to begin on August 30, will now follow the first Test, which is also set to be played in Rawalpindi from August 21.

Why Karachi to Rawalpindi?

This unexpected change has been necessitated by the ongoing renovation work at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, which is undergoing a major overhaul in preparation for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. PCB has recently rented new floodlights in their stadiums in Lahore and Karachi.

The PCB had initially planned to hold the Karachi Test without spectators to minimize disruptions, but it became apparent that even this measure would not be sufficient to meet the tight redevelopment timeline.

New Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test schedule

Test Venue Date
1st Rawalpindi Aug 21-25
2nd Rawalpindi Aug 30-Sept 3
