PSL 10: A mini-controversy has erupted when South African participant Corbin Bosch had left PCB’s league for IPL’s Mumbai Indians.
h Just before the start of PSL 10, the league has suffered another major setback. Another of their international stars has withdrawn from PCB’s tournament, that is supposed to start on April 11. Australia star wicket-keeper Alex Carey won’t play in the Pakistan Super League, as per various reports in Pakistani media.
After Corbin Bosch, Alex Carey Exits PSL 10
Carey was brought in as a replacement by Islamabad United, for South African batter Rassie van der Dussen, but won’t be able to participate in PSL due to commitments in Australia. The same was revealed to the franchise, a few hours before their opening clash against Lahore Qalandars, in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Carey isn’t the only player who has left PSL and a franchise in the lurch. Earlier, South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch had ditched Peshawar Zalmi, after he was hired by Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Later he was banned by the PCB for a year, from playing in their league.
Many High-Profile Players Exit PCB’s League
Not just him, Kiwi players Mark Chapman, Kane Williamson, and Bangladesh players Nahid Rana and Litton Das had also pulled out. This doesn’t bode well for PSL, that wishes to take on IPL, with their “increased” star power. Having said that, PSL 2025 will see 34 matches in all, and the tournament will end on May 18.
Rawalpindi will host 11 matches in all, and then the first qualifier will take place on May 13, while Karachi and Multan will host five matches each.
