England’s batting failure in Kolkata poses large menace for RCB in IPL 2025

IND vs ENG: Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone had been out for geese, whereas Jacob Bethell was out for 7, in what might depart RCB nervous.

The IND vs ENG T20I series kicked-off in a brilliant fashion for the Indian team, as they beat the visitors by 7 wickets in Kolkata. First Varun Chakravarthy’s three-wickets ensured that England were bundled out for 132, and then Abhishek Sharma’s 79 from 34 deliveries meant, India chased down the target with 8 overs to spare.

Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Phil Salt Fail

While this might be a great news for the Indian sports fans, but then IPL franchise, RCBs management would be a worried lot, as their big purchases — Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell, all failed with the bat. Mind you, Livingstone was bought for 8.75 Cr, Salt for 11.50 Cr, and Bethell for 2.60 Cr — and all of whom will most likely feature in their XI together, at some point of time.

In England’s poor looking scorecard of 132 — Salt and Livingstone were out for ducks, while Bethell scored 7 from 14. If RCB was to look at potential replacements for these players as well, then they might just fall a little short. Yes, there is likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar in the team, but then, RCB would surely have to squeeze a couple of English batters in the XI.

Headache for RCB?

This entire IND vs ENG T20I series might not have any importance in the international calendar, but then it will give a fair idea to all IPL franchises, as to how their foreign players are performing. As by the looks of it, if this 1st T20I is to be considered, it isn’t the match, that RCB would like to look again.
