It’s no secret that Oscar De La Hoya, as soon as the promoter of Canelo Alvarez, has poured some significantly chilly water on this Saturday’s struggle between Canelo and Edgar Berlanga. The Golden Boy head has referred to as the upcoming struggle a “snoozefest,” and De La Hoya has gone on file as declaring that the struggle – yours, US struggle fan, for $90 – will flop and “is not going to exceed 100k properties” when it comes to pay-per-view buys.
It’s nasty, for certain. And whereas Canelo has not responded to his former promoter’s phrases (not less than not in public), Berlanga has. And the unbeaten puncher who assures us he’ll knock Canelo “the f**okay out!” has laid into De La Hoya.
“I’m the PPV king, and Canelo [Vs.] Berlanga is not going to exceed 100k properties,” De La Hoya wrote, including how “No one is paying $90 for this snoozefest. Simply talking the information as all the time.”
To which Berlanga responded, with venom:
“You any person plenty of fighters regarded as much as. You’re a f*****g w***er @OscarDeLaHoya.”
So, has De La Hoya gone too far in criticizing Saturday’s struggle, or is the previous multi-weight champ proper on the cash right here?
Berlanga is just not the man we wished to see Canelo slug it out with; that man is, after all, David Benavidez. However we’re getting what we’re getting on Saturday night time, and that’s 34-year-old Canelo, maybe prepared for the taking by a younger and hungry puncher, towards 27-year-old Berlanga, a younger and hungry puncher.
Will it’s an excellent struggle on Saturday? Will the struggle exceed greater than the 100k PPV buys De La Hoya has predicted? Will YOU be watching?
Typically, an enormous boxing upset happens at a time when not too many followers are there to see it stay. Might this show to be the case on September 14? Perhaps.
