Dewald Brevis has joined CSK’s squad as a substitute participant for Gurjapneet Singh.
Making his much-anticipated debut for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dewald Brevis announced his arrival in the IPL with a thrilling cameo that lit up the middle overs. CSK lost early wickets against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) before Brevis came in for an impactful stay.

Inspiring stay from Brevis
Walking in with CSK needing a momentum shift, Brevis delivered precisely that—unleashing an explosive 42 off just 25 balls at a strike rate of 168. From launching Kamindu Mendis straight down the ground to clearing extra cover with Harshal Patel’s slower balls, the 21-year-old South African seemed in total control, lifting CSK past the 100-run mark in the 12th over.
The turning point came in the 12th over, where Brevis hit three sixes in the space of five balls, including a monstrous slap over extra cover that had fans on their feet.
Kamindu Mendis turns the game with a screamer
Just as Brevis seemed poised to take the game away, Kamindu Mendis produced a moment of magic that halted the charge. Positioned at long-off, Mendis pulled off a stunning diving catch to his left, plucking a rocket flat-batted shot that looked destined for six. The dismissal off Harshal Patel’s delivery drew gasps from the crowd and shifted the game’s tempo once again.
Soon, CSK went from being 114/4 to 134/8, once again giving impressive of their horrible IPL 2025 campaign.
