MANILA, Philippines — The Prison Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported confiscating P158,994,889.91-worth of firearms, ammunition, explosives and different proof; and arresting 964 suspects in unlawful actions in December 2024.
In a press release on Saturday, the police unit detailed that its 885 operations yielded in 94 court docket instances to curb free firearms, unlawful playing, environmental crimes, smuggling, counterfeiting, unlawful liquified petroleum fuel (LPG) manufacturing, and terrorism.
The CIDG beforehand reported that it seized P1.7 billion in proof and arrested over 1,000 suspects in November 2024.

Its efforts to stifle free firearms stems from a directive from Philippine Nationwide Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil to focus on unregulated weapons within the lead as much as the 2025 nationwide and native elections.

The gun ban begins because the official election interval begins on Sunday, Jan. 12.
