Cardinals Signal Likelihood Sisco To Minor League Contract

The Cardinals signed catcher Likelihood Sisco to a minor league deal final week, as initially famous on Sisco’s MLB.com profile web page.  Sisco has already been on the sphere with Triple-A Memphis, which marked his first motion in affiliated ball since he performed with the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate in 2022.

Previously a top-100 prospect throughout his days within the Orioles’ farm system, Sisco had a couple of flashes of that potential over four-plus MLB seasons in Baltimore from 2017-21, however he ended his O’s tenure with a .199/.319/.339 slash line over 598 plate appearances.  After the Mets claimed Sisco off the Orioles’ waiver wire in June 2021, the catcher appeared in 5 video games with New York and he hasn’t since been again within the large leagues.

Following his 2022 season within the Twins’ farm system, Sisco performed within the Mexican League in 2023, and has spent elements of the final two seasons with the Lengthy Island Geese of the unbiased Atlantic League.  He has a whopping .274/.416/.609 slash line over his 399 PA with the Geese, and that manufacturing helped land a spot on the Memphis roster.

Sisco offers the Cardinals a bit of additional catching depth whereas Willson Contreras is on the 10-day injured listing.  Contreras fractured his center finger after being hit by a pitch on August 24, however the fracture wasn’t critical sufficient to require surgical procedure, so he’s tentatively slated to return across the center of September.  Ivan Herrera and Pedro Pages are dealing with catching duties within the interim, and Sisco brings a little bit of added expertise on the Triple-A stage.
