The 27-year-old is hopeful of Olympic choice and now has his sights set on the nationwide 20km file
Callum Wilkinson smashed his personal UK 10,000m race walks file on Sunday and says if he’s picked for the Paris Olympics he needs to attempt to break Tom Bosworth’s nationwide 20km file of 79:38.
Wilkinson, 27, clocked 38:43.91 to beat his earlier mark of 39:05.85 which was set in Newport in 2021 a number of months earlier than he completed 10th within the Tokyo Olympics 20km.
“I believe it’s sufficient [for Paris] and possibly went even higher than I used to be aiming for as long as nobody has carried out something loopy quick the world over this weekend,” stated Wilkinson, who was ninth within the European Championships in Rome earlier this month.
“The championship race in Paris might be totally different. I actually need the British 20km file. I really feel I’ve received that in me. It’s the one I’ve at all times wished since I used to be younger.
“I’ll go straight to altitude after this to St Moritz as it’s my favorite place on the earth to coach. The elite endurance set-up is so robust on this nation.”

I’ve had so many accidents and surgical procedures because the final Olympics to be again on this place is so thrilling and I actually get pleasure from it. I’ve matured within the final three years and to go once more is for me.”
