MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) within the Port of Davao turned over 2,954 deserted balikbayan packing containers to the Division of Migrant Staff (DMW) for distribution to their supposed recipients — the households of Abroad Filipino Staff.

These packing containers, initially despatched by OFWs to their family members, had been left unclaimed after being mishandled and deserted by unscrupulous freight forwarders. Their distribution to their supposed recipients follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to the BOC to make sure its providers stay people-centered and conscious of the wants of Filipino households.
