IPL 2025, CSK vs RR: After two losses in a row, Chennai Tremendous Kings discover themselves on the seventh place within the factors desk.
CSK fell to their second successive defeat in the IPL 2025, and once again due to their slow-paced batting. The ploy to send Rahul Tripathi at the top of the order seems to be failing, and the overall XI selection isn’t making much sense. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni and the other stakeholders need to sit together to pull things back.
InsideSport takes a look at the player rating for CSK vs RR, that the Men in Yellow lost by 6 runs in the end.
CSK Player Ratings For RR Match
Rachin Ravindra (0.5/10): The Kiwi opener once again failed for CSK, and was out for a duck by Jofra Archer. It wasn’t that big a chase, and had he scored some runs at the top of the order, Chennai would have been in a winning position.
Rahul Tripathi (3/10): There is something awfully wrong with this talented batter. He scored 23 from 19, but his slow scoring pace put a lot of pressure on the batters to follow, and obviously could not cope. Maybe he should be ousted from the XI.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (7/10): He deserves some feedback from the fans, and need to make some solid changes in the XI. Nonetheless, he scored 63 from 44, and tried his best to chase down 183 from 20 overs.
Shivam Dube (3/10): Shivam Dube came in as an Impact Sub, scored 18 from 10 and had negligible impact on the match. It was him who needed to fire if CSK had to go past the finish line. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
MS Dhoni (-/10): It is just blasphemous to rate MS Dhoni, based on his performance. Nonetheless, much to the delight of Guwahati crowd, he came to bat at No. 7, and scored 16 from 11.
Vijay Shankar (1/10): He was given a chance in this match, and played for CSK after a long, long time, and he showed why he shouldn’t. Though an impressive player, he just doesn’t seem to be in touch.
Ravindra Jadeja (9/10): Jadeja’s performance slipper under the radar once again, but he returned with figures of 1/10 in 2 overs and then scored 32 from 22. All-around, he was just the best once again.
Jamie Overton (2/10): Was picked in the XI, and didn’t deliver. He gave away 30 runs in his two overs and then scored 11 from 4. He could be put to a better use by Chennai team.
Ravichandran Ashwin (3/10): 1/46 in four overs is just not good by R Ashwin. Chennai need him to fire in the bowling department if they want to have a good season.
Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana (8/10): Both these foreign bowlers with very different skill sets returned with similar figures of 2/28. They bowled well, but then RR still managed to cross 180.
Khaleel Ahmed (7/10): 2/38 is what Khaleel Ahmed could manage on the night. He seems to be bowling at decent speeds, but then, he needs to come up with a performance that everyone remembers for a long time.
