Axar’s captaincy take a look at, Rahul’s problem in center order

Delhi Capitals are all set to start their IPL 2025 campaign under the new captaincy of Axar Patel. This year, they are looking to shake things up with some fresh faces and a revamped team strategy. The new skipper will have a lot riding on his shoulders as he leads the team into the tournament. The team will start their campaign in Vizag, where they will be facing Lucknow Super Giants at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.

Jake and Faf to do the opening job

In terms of strengths, Delhi Capitals have a solid top order with the likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis. Fraser-McGurk’s explosive batting in the powerplay is expected to give the team some aggressive starts. Adding the experience of Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul, who is also the team’s wicketkeeper, should provide stability in the opening overs if the wickets fall early. KL Rahul has a new challenge to bat at number 4, as he has opened the innings for a lot of years in the IPL.

Young lads take charge in middle-order

The middle order is where Delhi faces some uncertainties. The absence of Harry Brook has left a gap that needs to be filled effectively. However, they have some promising talents like Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs, along with captain Axar Patel, who are expected to take charge and bring solidity to the middle order.

Starc to lead pace department

Delhi’s bowling attack seems quite strong, especially in the death overs. Mitchell Starc, with his lethal pace and yorkers, will lead the attack, supported by Indian seamers like Mukesh Kumar, Mohit Sharma, and T Natarajan. Spin duties will be managed by Kuldeep Yadav alongside Axar Patel.
