Alas Pilipinas males hope to point out early progress beneath new coach

MANILA, Philippines — Alas Pilipinas males’s squad parades seasoned Italian coach Angiolino Frigoni within the SEA VLeague first leg beginning on Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Frigoni, a two-time Olympian head coach for the Italian ladies’s group within the 1992 Barcelona and 2000 Sydney video games, makes his debut after signing a contract in June from FIVB’s advice final 12 months.

Alinsunurin will work hand-in-hand with Frigoni in dealing with the boys’s group for leg 1 led by Bryan Bagunas, Josh Ybañez, Vince Patrick Lorenzo, Jade Disquitado, Kim Malabunga, Noel Kampton, EJ Casaña, Owa Retamar, Rwenzmel Taguibolos, Leo Ordiales, Gerard Diao, Lloyd Josafat, Louie Ramirez and Buds Buddin.

“Tumataas ‘yung competitors inside the group pa lang talaga. Kasi dati talagang [nung] nagco-coach ako, kung ihahalintulad ko sa sitwasyon ngayon sobrang taas na. Masasabi ko na malaki ‘yung likelihood namin mas umangat pa ‘yung laro namin na kung ano ‘yung nangyari samin final SEA Video games, mas i-angat pa namin siguro dahil sa ginagawa niyang coaching sa group,” stated Alinsunurin, who led the nationwide group to a historic silver medal within the 2019 Southeast Asian Video games.

Marck Espejo will miss the marketing campaign as he’s present process rehabilitation, leaving massive footwear to fill for younger weapons Buddin, Kampton, Ramirez, and Disquitado.

Alinsunurin believes Buddin will step up in his first nationwide group stint, following his second straight championship with the Bulldogs within the UAAP and a bronze medal in Asean College Video games Seashore Volleyball with Leo Aringo. 

“Sobrang grateful ako sa naging sitwasyon dahil alam mo yun, pinatawag siya, nakita ng coach, ayun. Tuloy tuloy na hanggang sa ma-lineup siya. Basta proceed lang ‘yung kung paano siya [maglaro]. ‘Yung taong ‘yun sobrang devoted lagi sa laro. Hindi ‘yan nagpapahuli sa coaching, ang importante sa kanya daily talaga all out lagi. Proceed lang para mas malayo pa yung marating,” stated the Alas assistant coach. 

Alas battles Vietnam first on Friday opener at 6 p.m. The Philippines takes on Indonesia earlier than battling Thailand on Sunday.
