In response to the Asia Cup format, India and Pakistan are set to face one another at the least twice.
After a thumping win in the ongoing Champions Trophy, team India is likely to face Pakistan twice in 2025. As per reports, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has tentatively scheduled the Asia Cup for September this year. This time, the tournament will be played in the T20 format, as the T20 World Cup is set to take place next year in India and Sri Lanka.
Although India is officially the host for the competition, the off-field dynamics between India and Pakistan have necessitated a shift to a neutral venue. The exact location has yet to be finalized, but according to a report by Cricbuzz, ACC officials are considering moving the Asia Cup to either Sri Lanka or the UAE.
Two more India vs Pakistan matches in 2025
According to the Asia Cup format, India and Pakistan are set to face each other at least twice. The arch-rivals are grouped together and are expected to qualify for the Super Four stage, resulting in a second encounter. If both teams perform to their potential, they could meet again in the final, making it their third clash in the tournament. However, India and Pakistan have never faced each other in an Asia Cup final before.
The possibility of three high-stakes matches between these two teams adds to the excitement and anticipation for cricket fans across the globe. Currently, the Men in Blue have been outplaying their arch-rivals. Team India suffered its last defeat against Pakistan back in the 2021 T20 World Cup played in UAE. Since then, the Men in Green have lost all games against India across marquee tournaments.
