The previous Indian males’s hockey crew captain PR Sreejesh would like to bid adieu his stellar profession with a medal at Paris Olympics.
Indian hockey veteran PR Sreejesh is set to retire from international hockey after the Paris Olympics, marking the end of an illustrious career that spanned over 14 years. With 328 caps to his name, Sreejesh has been an integral part of the Indian team, leading the side as captain in the Olympics and winning numerous accolades.

Sreejesh’s career has been adorned with several medals and recognition. He was part of the Indian team that won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He has also won two Asian Games gold medals, two Asia Cup titles, and four Asian Champions Trophy titles. His individual honors include being named the world’s best goalkeeper, a recognition he holds dear.
Sreejesh’s contributions to Indian hockey have been acknowledged with several awards. He was conferred with the Khel Ratna award in 2021, the highest sporting honor in the country.
A new chapter awaits
As Sreejesh prepares to bid adieu to international hockey, he expressed his gratitude and reflection on social media. “As I stand on the threshold of my final chapter in international hockey, my heart swells with gratitude and reflection. Thank you for believing in me. Here’s to the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new adventure,” he posted on Instagram. While his playing career may be coming to an end, Sreejesh’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Indian hockey players.
