British prospects in Apeldoorn

After three successive European medal hauls in two figures in 2017, 2019 and 2021, it dropped to 6 in 2023 though there have been three gold medals.

Harm prevents all three champions (Keely Hodgkinson, Laura Muir and Jazmin Sawyers) returning however Britain nonetheless has a powerful staff even when accidents have saved a couple of others away too and a few have had shorter indoor seasons than regular.

Unusually, British Athletics have picked a bigger staff than regular (probably the biggest ever exterior of Britain) and chosen athletes who wouldn’t have usually reached their harsh qualification standards,

A complete of 13 athletes had been chosen by way of the Street to Apeldoorn characteristic.

Topping the rankings are Georgia Hunter Bell (1500m), George Mills and Melissa Courtney-Bryant (3000m) although sadly top-ranked Molly Caudery (pole vault) was a late withdrawal.

Different occasions the place Britain may win a medal is in all three relays, the ladies’s 400m by way of Amber Anning and the 1500m with Neil Gourley or Elliot Giles.

There are exterior hopes within the 800m races, males’s 60m and ladies’s excessive bounce and Britain must be vying with the likes of Norway, Netherlands and Italy in the direction of the highest of the medal desk.
